Constance (Connie) M. Constant - Writer
Born in Chicago, Illinois from Greek immigrant parents in 1939, Connie now tells the story of her family moving to this country to face and survive the Great Depression. A trip to Greece (the Old Country) in 1984 brought Connie a bag full of letters written by her mother to family back home detailing life in America for her Greek-American family.
Austin Lunch is a memoir. It amusingly relates the story of a family living through the shock of immigration and the struggle of the Great Depression. Mama defies convention in 1931 and goes to work in her husband's restaurant, the Austin Lunch, near Skid Row Chicago.
