Feast of the Annunciation of the Theotokos March 25

Feast Day: March 25

⛪ The Feast of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Lady, the Theotokos (Θεοτόκου) and Ever-Virgin Mary is one of the Great Feasts of the Greek Orthodox Church and honors the announcement by the Archangel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary that the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Son of God, would be born from her. Mary replied with, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be according to your word."

The Annunciation is also a reminder of the importance of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Mary is venerated by Orthodox Christians as the Theotokos, which means "God-bearer." On this day, flowers decorate alters and homes.

Greek Independence Day is also celebrated on the 25th of March.
