Feast of the Entrance into the Temple of the Theotokos November 21

Feast Day: November 21

⛪ The Feast of the Entrance into the Temple of the Most Holy Lady the Theotokos (Θεοτόκου) and Ever-Virgin Mary is one of the Great Feasts of the Greek Orthodox Church and honors when the Virgin Mary entered the Temple in Jerusalem presumably at the very young age of three.

Mary was brought to the temple by her previously childless, elderly parents, who prayed for a child and promised she would be brought up in the service of god. She lived with other maidens at the Temple, where she was educated, and where her parents visited her until their own deaths.

Image: The icon depicts High Priest, Zacharias, waiting to receive Mary. Her parents, Joachim and Anna, offer her to God, and her escorts stand behind them.
